Afterword for offset edition
FRESCOES OF THE TRUTH is an edition in which principles of historical documentarism and authenticity are taken from a patriotic perspective.
The truth is a fresco, which came in flakes off the crackled walls of memory...
For stories are numerous, but there is only one truth and one Victory.
These citations, referred to the foreword, are the essence of the edition and the formula of its artistic concept.
The two last pages of the FRESCOES OF THE TRUTH present the source photos of the World War II period from the state archives of Yekaterinburg and Chelyabinsk regions. The imagery of the photos has inspired a famous Russian artist Vasily Smelyankiy, the owner of the RIG PERSONA TM, to create a cycle of graphics as a tribute to the immortal feat of the Russian people.
During a multistage process, the artist has reinterpreted the photographs assisted by his student Margarita Yazykova and a brilliant image editor Vladimir Markov.
The printing process required special accuracy and was successfully accomplished by Production of Alexandr Korlykhanov (FORT DIALOG Printing Plant) which is one of the printing industry leaders in the Ural. Printing was performed by a large printing team under the direction of Petr Elfimov. The unique look of the edition was created by offset masters Alexey Bukrin, Valery Fufarov, and Alexey Tsyganov, and by an outstanding specialist of prepress Sergey Basargin.
For the first time the article was published in the art and polygraphic project FRESCOES OF THE TRUTH, 2010 |
